Resurrection Pass Trail. Beware of bears when hiking in the Alaska wilderness. Always
make noise and talk out loud to alert bears of your presence as you do not want to surprise
them.
The Resurrection Pass Trail
What is now the Resurrection Pass Trail once was the main route for the fortune seekers
landing in Seward’s Resurrection Bay. They crossed this mountain trail to reach
gold claims in the Turnagain Arm area. Today, this scenic well maintained 38-mile long
trail leads you up to an elevation of 2,600 feet and gradually down to the Sterling Highway.
Experienced hikers can finish in three days, while more leisurely hikers should plan
on five days. There are cabins on the trail that you can reserve from the USFS or camping
sites available as a first come first serve basis.
