IMPORTANT NOTICE: - April 27, 2007
Last winters devastating cold and wind played havoc upon the campgrounds of the Kenai Peninsula leaving many with enough damage as to be rendered unavailable for the 2007 camping season. Along the middle and lower stretches of the Kenai River, metal docks and walkways were torn away and are now littered along the bottom of the river. This will make fishing very interesting as the miles of bent and twisted grating and aluminum structures will add to the navigation problems of this heavily fished river. Due to the Kenai River Flooding & Ice Jams last winter, an emergency has been declared for this area. Federal aid is expected but repairs are expected to extend into 2008.

Alaska Critters - Kenai Peninsula campgrounds are loaded with wildlife. Large game animals like moose are common to see and caribou, black and brown bear are also spotted frequently in or near many of the camping and rv parks. An excellent place to look for caribou is from the Warren Ames bridge access road in Kenai and on the access road between Kenai and Nikiski.
